What are the health benefits of Chilli?

When we decided to create our innovative Chilli No.5 range of spicy sauces, we wanted not only to set your taste buds alive, but also help you live a healthier life. Which is why we have purposefully packed our saucey collection full of goodness in the shape of superfoods. 

Each of our sauces contain a number of key ingredients that are deemed โ€˜superfoods. Superfoods are predominantly plant-based foods that are nutritionally dense and extremely good for you.  

These uber-foods all contain a variety of nutrients, such as antioxidants, which are thought to protect your cells against free radicals or molecules produced when your body breaks down food. For example, antioxidants can help to fight off illnesses like cancer. 

Superfoods – including our integral ingredient chilli peppers – are also loaded with vitamins, minerals, enzymes and healthy fats which is why our ranges are literally hot sauce which is good for you

Thanks to the superfoods they contain, our sauces can help to boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, keep blood sugar in check..to name just a few health benefits. 

We have carefully made sure that in each of our sauces there are a number of superfoods – be that tomato, black garlic, oregano or any other nutrient-dense veggie or spice, making Chilli No. 5 a Superfood Sauce extraordinaire!  

What antioxidants does Chillis contain?

Chili peppers are very high in many powerful antioxidants, including vitamin C that is important for wound healing and immune function. Red chilli peppers are high in beta carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A. It is also composed of B6 which plays a role in energy metabolism and vitamin K1, also known as phylloquinone, is essential for blood clotting and healthy bones and kidneys.

Super elements including Potassium and copper are also in Chillis and are essential dietary mineral that serves a variety of functions. Potassium may reduce your risk of heart disease when consumed in adequate amounts. Copper, often lacking in the Western diet, is an essential trace element, important for strong bones and healthy neurons.
